In addition to the immediate surrounding area – including Taunusstein, Hünstetten and Bad Camberg – many people from Wiesbaden, Limburg and the wider region also visit the practice. Appointments can be conveniently booked online or by phone. For acute eye complaints, the practice team strives to offer appointments at short notice.

Regular eye examinations are an important part of preventive healthcare. From the age of 40, regular check-ups are recommended as the risk of eye diseases increases with age.

These examinations enable early detection and treatment of eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataract, macular degeneration, keratoconus, dry eye and other changes in vision.

Furthermore, modern ophthalmic diagnostics serve to detect:

• Retinal changes (e.g. retinal holes or retinal detachment)
• Vascular diseases of the eye (e.g. retinal vascular occlusions, also known as "eye stroke")
• Vitreous body changes (e.g. posterior vitreous detachment or floaters)
• Refractive errors and corneal curvature (astigmatism)
• Eyelid inflammations, chalazion and stye

Preventive examinations are particularly recommended for patients with diabetes, hypertension, a family history of eye disease or deteriorating vision. Symptoms such as dry eyes, light sensitivity, blurred vision, foreign body sensation, light flashes or other visual changes should also be evaluated by an ophthalmologist promptly.

The examination usually takes only a few minutes.

• After the examination, vision may be temporarily impaired.
• Increased light sensitivity is common.
• During this time, you should not drive.

We recommend bringing sunglasses to the examination.

Depending on the clinical question, retinal photography may be performed as an alternative. Whether this is possible is determined individually during the examination.

In children, refractive errors, strabismus or visual development disorders can be detected early. For accurate determination of visual acuity, special eye drops for so-called cycloplegia are sometimes used.

After the examination, temporary blurred vision and light sensitivity may occur.
